From the Heartland
Five mama cows and a big dream
Our story is one of determination and hope, plain and simple. Eric and I started a direct-to-consumer beef business in 2013 because we wanted other families to have the same access to nutritionally dense, high-quality, healthy food we were raising right here on our farm and ranch.
We wanted others to know where their food was coming from, and to be a part of that experience. That was the year we started Fass Farms Premium Beef, and we've never looked back.
Before everything changed, Eric was our local Fire Chief. We've always been deeply involved in our community, through our church, school and community events, and the organizations we love. We've always liked being able to give back somehow, and to educate along the way.
Then Everything Changed
Where do we go from here?
Eric suffered a severe traumatic brain injury from a fall, and later complete upper respiratory failure, leaving him permanently disabled and requiring full-time care. Parts of him died that day. A lot of him will never be the same, and recovery will be forever ongoing.
Do we walk away from what we worked so hard to build, and were so passionate about? Considering even more change felt impossible. But this journey down a new road has made us more resilient, and we have never, for one minute, given up hope that better days are ahead.
Through it all, we've formed new relationships, partnered with Argo Cattle, and rebranded Fass Farms, where it all started, into Down Home Beef. We've become a multi-family farm raising some of the highest-quality wholesome beef in Southeast Nebraska. God is good. Our faith is strong.

Grass-fed, grain-finished, dry-aged beef sold directly to families since 2013, processed locally at MK Meats in Unadilla, NE, and raised alongside our partners at Argo Cattle.

Distributing ADM feed products and custom nutrition to livestock producers across Nebraska, built on listening first and putting relationships before sales.
